“New York’s got New Jersey, San Francisco’s got the place where Colma stays.” Radio Allegro goes behind the scenes with the director, writer, composer and star of COLMA: The
Musical Taking place in the suburban town of Colma, where the dead outnumber the living 1500 to 1, Colma: The Musical weaves the musiand downs of early adulthood. You might think that most movies
musicals come from a hot stage show or are remakes of John Waters cut classics -and you might even think that most new stage musicals come from movies like Legally Blonde or Olivia Newton John movies
from the 80's---and you could totally be forgiven for thinking that--- But this year things have changed--earlier in the year Radio Allegro went backstage of the original musical "In the Heights'"
which will be transferring to Broadway this spring and today we're going to talk to talk to the creative minds behind Colma: The Musical a totally original movie musical that joined such movies as
"Once" and even "Disney's Enchanted" in making 2007 the year of the "Original Movie Musical" GO BEYOND THE PODCAST: Colma- The Musical: Official Website http://www.colmafilm.com Colma and HP Mendoza

RA302-Radio Allegro Unplugged- Britney By Any Means Necessary It all starts out with one of the most unusual and out of place comments ever broadcast on Radio Allegro! Eleanore Altman joins Ashley to
discuss the musical theory of Britney Spears (yes that's right folks) and gives us a virtual music history/theory lesson on the construction of her music. Ashley also rebuts Eleanore's rabid fandom
by questioning the nature of celebrity and ownership of fame!! Plus great music from Sondra Lerche, Badly Drawn Boy, and a likely Oscar contender for Best Song by John Mayer. All this plus a preview
of an upcoming episode with an original cast member from "Rent" an explanation (sort of) on Radio Allegro's long hiatus, and details on Eleanore's adventures in the Big Apple as she follows her goal
to be a real life FBI agent! It doesn't get more eclectic or unusual than this and it's all unscripted and it's all "right here on Radio Allegro" (!) MUSIC ON THE PODCAST "Say" performed by John
Mayer from the upcoming Rob Reiner film "The Bucket List" ....I would imagine that this would be nominated for Best Original Song at the Oscars...and it's a definite shoe-in at the Globes also...it's
a totally catchy song Many samples from Brit's CD's old and new including a full version of "Radar" from her new cd aptly titled "Blackout" Samples from NSYNC and Justin Timberlake--feel free to skip
em "The Time of Times" performed by Badly Drawn Boy from "Born in the UK"....I was browsing thru my massive library of tunes and thought this would be a great song to play because we had just been
talking about the mind...I love Badly Drawn Boy!! "Hell No" performed by Sondra Lerche and Regina Spektor from the "Dan in Real Life" soundtrack-- what a lovely movie, but what a BRILLIANT
soundtrack, if there is any justice this is gonna be nommed at the Oscar's this year....it's too good so I doubt it... *Fun thought: All the music on the podcast today (except the popcrap stuff from
Brit, Justin and NSYNC) are all by artists who have contributed original tunes to films--in Badly Drawn Boy and Sondra Lerche's case they have actually contributed whole soundtracks (About a Boy and
Dan In Real Life respectively) I think John Mayer should do songs for a movie--perhaps the next Nancy Meyers film "Romantic" starring Matt Damon and Amy Adams...could be fun!! Remember to check out
